294 Responses to official questions
(1) A person must not, in answer to an official question, make a statement that is false or misleading in a material particular.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
(2) It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (1) if it is established that the defendant did not know, and could not reasonably be expected to have known, that the relevant statement was false or misleading in a material particular.
(3) It is enough for a complaint against a person for an offence against subsection (1) to state the statement was, without specifying which,
"false or misleading" to the person's knowledge.
