Security for compensation payable under the NTA

(1)

This section applies if the Minister has made a decision to grant or renew a geothermal authority and is satisfied the grant or renewal will be a future act to which section 24GE of the NTA applies.

(2)

The Minister may, before granting or renewing the geothermal authority, require the applicant to give a security for compensation for the future act that may be payable by the Territory under the NTA to the native title holders whose native title rights and interests are affected by the future act.
