159A Killing or injuring police dogs or police horses
A person must not intentionally kill or injure a police dog or police horse:
knowing that the dog or horse is being used by a member of the
Police Force in the execution of the member's duty; or
as a consequence of, or in retaliation for, the use of the dog or horse by a member of the Police Force while in the execution of the member's duty.
Maximum penalty: 215 penalty units or imprisonment for 5 years.
A court that finds a person guilty of an offence against subsection (1) may, in addition to any penalty that may be imposed, order the person to pay to the Commissioner a reasonable amount for:
the treatment, care, rehabilitation and retraining of the police dog or police horse concerned; or
if it is necessary to replace the police dog or police horse –
buying and training its replacement.
