Adoption Act 2009

This section applies if the chief executive considers a document received under section 284 contains—

identifying information that it may not contain; or

any concerning matter.

The chief executive must notify the sender why the document may not be passed on in that form.

On request by the sender, the chief executive must—

pass on a part of the document that does not contain the identifying information or concerning matter; or

pass on the document after altering it so it does not contain the identifying information or concerning matter; orExample of alteration—

return the document to the sender; or

destroy or otherwise deal with the document.

If the sender does not make a request under subsection (3), the chief executive may keep the document or return it to the sender.
