Coroners Act 2003

Sections 100B and 100C have effect—

despite any right or privilege acquired by, or accrued to, a person under the repealed Coroners Act 1958; and

despite the Acts Interpretation Act 1954, section 20.

Without limiting subsection (1), to remove any doubt, it is declared that this Act applies in relation to a person giving evidence at an inquest reopened under section 100B, or section 50 or 50A as applied under section 100C, even if the person has claimed the privilege against self-incrimination or incrimination of the person’s spouse under the repealed Coroners Act 1958, section 33(2) or that section as applied under former section 100.
