Subsection (2) applies for a candidate in—

the first general election to be held after 1 July 2022; or

a by-election held after 1 July 2022 and before the general election mentioned in paragraph (a).

Despite section 247, the donation cap period for the candidate for the election—

starts on the latest of the following days—

1 July 2022;

if a general election is held during June 2022—the day that is 30 days after the polling day for the general election;

if the candidate is a candidate in a by-election held during June 2022—the day that is 30 days after the polling day for the by-election; and

ends 30 days after the polling day for the election.

Despite section 247, the first donation cap period for a registered political party—

starts on the later of the following days—

1 July 2022;

if a general election is held during June 2022—the day that is 30 days after the polling day for the general election; and

ends 30 days after the polling day for the next general election.
