Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation

This Regulation prescribes the vehicle standards, for the purposes of section 59 of the Law, with which a single heavy vehicle or heavy combination must comply for its use on a road.

The vehicle standards are set out in Schedules 1 to 3.

However, only Part 3 of Schedule 3 applies to a vehicle that is not a heavy vehicle but forms part of a combination that is a heavy combination.

Note—The vehicle standards are based on the Australian Vehicle Standards Rules 1999 contained in Schedule 2 of the National Transport Commission (Road Transport Legislation—Vehicle Standards) Regulations 2006 of the Commonwealth.
