Integrity Act 2009

The integrity commissioner must—

prepare a funding proposal for the additional funding; and

give the funding proposal to the parliamentary committee and a copy of the proposal to the Minister.

Within the period stated in subsection (3), the parliamentary committee must review the integrity commissioner’s funding proposal and give the Minister a report approving 1 of the following—

the integrity commissioner’s funding proposal;

a funding proposal for a different amount or a different purpose, or both;

a proposal that provides for no additional funding for the integrity office.

For subsection (2), the period is—

20 business days after the parliamentary committee receives the integrity commissioner’s funding proposal; or

if, in the circumstances, the Treasurer decides the approval of a proposal under subsection (2) is required within a shorter period and has notified the parliamentary committee of the shorter period and the reasons for the shorter period—the shorter period.Example for paragraph (b)—The Treasurer may decide the approval of a proposal under subsection (2) is required within a shorter period so the Minister’s response to the proposal can be considered in the preparation of the State budget.

The parliamentary committee must prepare the report under subsection (2) in consultation with the appropriate officers of Queensland Treasury.

If the parliamentary committee does not give the Minister a report under subsection (2) within the period stated in subsection (3), the committee is taken to have approved the integrity commissioner’s funding proposal.

In this section—Queensland Treasury means the department in which the Financial Accountability Act 2009 is administered.
