56A Right of entry to serve summons

(1)

Subject to subsection (3), a public officer, and a person acting in aid of the public officer, may enter, and stay for a reasonable time in or on a place for the purpose of serving a summons.

(2)

The officer must produce the officer’s identification to any person requesting proof of the officer’s authority to be in or on the place.

(3)

If the place is premises, or the part of premises, used exclusively for residential purposes, a public officer, and a person acting in aid of the public officer, may enter the place only with the consent of the occupier.
