43 Main functions
Legal Aid’s main functions are—
(a)
to ensure legal assistance is given to persons in the most effective, economic, commercial and efficient way; and
(b)
to manage its resources so as to make legal assistance available at a reasonable cost to the community and on an equitable basis throughout the State; and
(c)
to control and administer amounts given to it by the State or Commonwealth under a legal assistance arrangement or otherwise; and
(d)
to pursue innovative ways of giving persons legal assistance to minimise the need for individual legal services in the community.
