Frequency and place of meetings
257 Frequency and place of meetings
A local government must meet at least once in each month.
However, the local government need not meet in a particular month if the local government considers it would be impracticable or unnecessary to do so.
Examples for subsection (2)—
• the local government considers meeting in a month in which a disease outbreak or severe weather event happens in the local government’s area would be impracticable
• the local government considers meeting in a month in the caretaker period for the local government would be unnecessary
All meetings of a local government are to be held—
at 1 of the local government’s public offices; or
for a particular meeting—at another place fixed by the local government, by resolution, for the meeting.
