45 Payments for failure to vote
(1)
If the commission sends a person a notice under section 44(1) for a referendum and the person makes payment to the commission under the subsection, the commission must—
(a)
accept the payment; and
(b)
give the person a receipt for the payment; and
(c)
not take any proceeding against the person for failing to vote at the referendum.
(2)
In this section—proceeding includes serving an infringement notice under the State Penalties Enforcement Act 1999.
