40 Service
A notice, order or other document required or authorised by this
Act to be given to or served on a person by the Minister or an authorised officer may—
be served on the person or an agent of the person personally;
or
be left for the person at his or her place of residence or business with someone apparently over the age of 16 years; or
be posted to the person at his or her last known address;
or
be transmitted by facsimile transmission or electronic mail to the person's facsimile number or electronic mail address (in which case the document will be taken to have been given or served at the time of transmission); or
be served on the person by fixing it to, or leaving it on, a vessel or craft that the person is apparently in charge of, or expected to board at some stage, if the person giving or serving the document has reasonable grounds to believe that service in this manner will bring the document to the attention of the person to be served.
Without limiting the effect of subsection (1), a notice, order or other document required or authorised to be given to or served on a person may, if the person is a company or registered body within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 of the
Commonwealth, be given to or served on the person in accordance with that
Act.
