26 Fossil and geomorphological sites
If, in the opinion of the relevant authority, it is necessary or desirable in order to protect a fossil site or a site of geomorphological significance in a wilderness protection area or wilderness protection zone, the relevant authority may, by notice in the Gazette, declare the site to be a fossil site of significance or a site of geomorphological significance.
A person who, intentionally and without the permission of the relevant authority or other lawful authority, destroys, damages, or disturbs a site that is the subject of a declaration under subregulation (1), is guilty of an offence. Maximum penalty: Maximum penalty: $15 000. Expiation fee: $1 500.
