Animal Welfare Act 1993

If – an officer or inspector is performing or exercising any functions or powers at premises; and a person who is affected or likely to be affected, or is in charge of the premises, requests that the officer or inspector produce identification – the officer or inspector must produce his or her identification as an officer or inspector.

If an officer or inspector cannot immediately comply with the request of a person under subsection (1), the officer or inspector – may continue to perform and exercise his or her functions and powers despite his or her inability to immediately comply with the request; and must produce his or her identification, or provide a copy of that identification, to the person within 14 days.
