17 Power to return money deposited for bail
A person whose money deposited for bail is payable to the Public Account under section 16 may– within 2 months after the failure of the person admitted to bail to appear in accordance with the order for bail; or within such further time as may be allowed by the court before which that person failed to appear– show cause to that court why that money should be returned to that person.
The court must enquire into the circumstances of the case and, if it thinks fit, may order the return of the whole or any part of that money to that person.
