12 False or misleading statements or conduct
A person must not, in soliciting for any charitable purpose, by any misleading or deceptive statement, representation or promise – falsely represent the purpose for which the money or benefit is sought; or represent that the person has a sponsorship, approval or affiliation that he or she does not have. Fine not exceeding 100 penalty units or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 6 months.
A person must not, in soliciting for any charitable purpose, engage in any conduct that is misleading or deceptive or is likely to mislead or deceive. Fine not exceeding 100 penalty units or imprisonment for a period not exceeding 6 months.
