64 Duties of occupier of land
Where a fire is burning on any land during a fire permit period, the occupier of the land shall, immediately after becoming aware of the fire – take diligent steps to extinguish the fire or to prevent it from spreading; and report the fire to – the nearest brigade headquarters; or a police officer; or a member of the Fire Service.
Subsection (1) does not apply to – a fire lit under the authority of, and in accordance with the conditions of, a permit granted under section 66 if and so long as that section is complied with in relation to that fire; or a fire to which section 69 applies if and so long as that section is complied with in relation to the fire.
