Suspension or cancellation of licence
18 Suspension or cancellation of licence
The Secretary may, by written notice served on a licence holder, suspend or cancel an industrial hemp licence or a special research licence – if satisfied that the person has breached a term or condition of the licence; or if satisfied that the person is no longer a fit and proper person to hold the licence; or for any other prescribed reason.
Before suspending or cancelling a licence, the Secretary is to – give to the holder of the licence one month’s notice in writing to show cause why the licence should not be suspended or cancelled; and give consideration to any representations which the holder may make in that respect.
The suspension or cancellation of a licence takes effect – on and from the day specified in the notice; and in the case of a suspension, for the period specified in the notice.
