The Minister may refund the balance of any security deposit remaining after any amount has been used under section 196.

The Minister may refund all or part of any security deposit if the Minister considers it appropriate.

The Minister must not refund the balance until whichever of the following occurs last:if a claim for compensation is not made within the period specified in section 146, at the end of the period; if a claim for compensation is made within that period, after the Mining Tribunal determines the amount of compensation under section 150.
