15 When applications for parentage orders may be made

An application under section 13 for a parentage order in relation to a child – may be made not less than 30 days, and not more than 6 months, after the day on which the child is born; or may, if the application is to be made by a person on whom a copy of an application is served under section 14(6), be made within 14 days after the copy is so served; or may be made at a later time, with the court's leave.

The court may only grant leave under subsection (1)(c) for an application to be made under section 13 in relation to a child after 6 months after the day on which the child is born if it considers that – there are exceptional circumstances that justify the making of such an application after that period; and granting leave is in the best interests of the child.
