47A Exemption from requirement to hold motor cycle licence – postal worker driving postal vehicle
In this regulation – Australia Post has the same meaning as in the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989 of the Commonwealth; postal vehicle means a motor vehicle that is a motor trike that – is a learner approved motor cycle that has an electric motor as its sole means of propulsion; and has a maximum motor cycle speed not exceeding 50 kilometres per hour; postal worker means a person who is employed, or engaged, to deliver mail and parcels within Tasmania for, or on behalf of, Australia Post.
A person is exempt from the requirement to hold a motor cycle licence when driving a postal vehicle on a public street if that person, at the time at which the person is driving the postal vehicle – is a postal worker; and is driving the postal vehicle in the person’s capacity as a postal worker; and holds a driver licence, in the hierarchy of licence classes, other than a learner licence in relation to a car.
