A regulated entity may, for the purpose of carrying out operational work, protective work or any similar work, cut off the provision of a water service or a sewerage service for a reasonable period without any liability for failure to provide a water service or sewerage service.
If a regulated entity exercises its power under subsection (1), it must give reasonable notice, in writing, to all persons whose water service or sewerage service is to be cut off, of the time when it is expected to be cut off and when it will be restored. Fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
If the water service or sewerage service fails or is cut off in an emergency, the regulated entity is not required to give notice under subsection (2).
