8 Making and commencement of an Order

If a majority of votes cast in a poll are in favour of the making of a proposed Order, after considering any submissions on the proposed Order, the Minister may make an Order in the same, or substantially the same, terms as the proposed Order (as included in the notice under section 7).
An Order must be published in the Government Gazette, and comes into operation on publication or on such later date as is specified in the Order.
A copy of an Order must be laid before each House of Parliament on or before the sixth sitting day of that House after publication of the Order in the Government Gazette.

An Order may be disallowed by resolution of either House of Parliament in accordance with section 23 of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994 as if the Order were a statutory rule.
If an Order is disallowed by Parliament, the disallowance has the same effect as a revocation of the Order.
