Autopsy report
37 Autopsy report
If a medical investigator has been directed by a coroner to perform an autopsy on a body, the medical investigator must provide a report to the coroner in accordance with this Rule.
A report on an autopsy must—
be typed;
be provided to the registrar as soon as practicable after the autopsy has been performed;
state the identity of the deceased if the identity can be ascertained;
specify what procedure has been performed on the body; and
specify whether any person or entity external or independent of the medical investigator was consulted, or provided any information, in relation to the autopsy and a summary of that consultation or information.
Unless a coroner otherwise orders, a report on an autopsy is confidential and must only be provided to the Coroners Court.
