48 Appointment procedure
The Secretary may appoint a person to be an authorised officer for the purposes of section 36.
The Secretary may only appoint a person to be an authorised officer if the Secretary is satisfied that the person is suitably qualified or trained to exercise powers under section 36.
In appointing a person as an authorised officer, the Secretary must give the person an identity card—
that identifies the person by name as an authorised officer under this Act; and
that contains a photograph of the person; and
that is signed by the person; and
that is signed by the Secretary.
If a person's appointment as an authorised officer is revoked or expires, he or she must immediately return his or her identity card to the Secretary.
