The Secretary must, by instrument—
appoint one member of the CVE MAP to be the chairperson; and
appoint one member of the CVE MAP to be the deputy chairperson.
The deputy chairperson must act as chairperson during any period when—
the office of chairperson is vacant; or
the chairperson is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office.
Note
The deputy chairperson must also preside at meetings in certain circumstances—see section 22BC.
While the deputy chairperson is acting as chairperson, the deputy chairperson has and may exercise all the powers, and must perform all the duties and functions, of the chairperson.
A person appointed as chairperson or deputy chairperson ceases to hold that office on ceasing to be a member of the CVE MAP.
