22CK Application for support and engagement order
Subject to subsection (3), an authorised police officer may apply for a support and engagement order.
An application under subsection (1) must be made to—
the Magistrates' Court, if the respondent is an adult; or
the Children's Court, if the respondent is a child.
An authorised police officer must not make an application under subsection (1) if the proposed respondent is—
under 14 years of age; or
a person who has already been subject to one or more support and engagement orders for a total period of 2 years.
The total period referred to in subsection (3)(b) is to be calculated by adding together the lengths of the periods during which the respondent has been subject to support and engagement orders, irrespective of whether or not any of those periods were consecutive.
