46 Identity cards
The Regulator must issue an identity card to each WELS inspector.
The identity card must—
be in the form prescribed by the regulations made under the Commonwealth Act; and
contain a recent photograph of the WELS inspector.
A person commits an offence if—
the person has been issued with an identity card; and
the person ceases to be a WELS inspector; and
the person does not return the identity card to the Regulator as soon as practicable.
- 1 penalty unit.
A WELS inspector must carry his or her identity card at all times when exercising powers or performing functions as a WELS inspector.
A WELS inspector is not entitled to exercise any powers under this Part in relation to premises if—
the occupier of the premises has required the WELS inspector to produce his or her identity card for inspection by the occupier; and
the WELS inspector fails to comply with the requirement.
