162 Appointment of inspectors
In this section —
criminal record check, in relation to a person, means a document issued by the Police Force of Western Australia, the Australian Federal Police or the police force of another State or a Territory that sets out the criminal convictions (if any) of the person for offences under the law of the State, the Commonwealth or the other State or Territory.
The Director General may, by instrument in writing, appoint a person as an inspector.
An appointment must not be made for a period longer than 5 years, but a person may be reappointed as an inspector for a further term.
The appointment of an inspector may specify that the appointment is subject to conditions or restrictions relating to —
the functions that may be performed by the inspector; or
when, where and in what circumstances the inspector may perform the functions of an inspector.
The Director General may obtain a criminal record check for a person —
before deciding whether or not to appoint or reappoint the person as an inspector; and
at any time while the person’s appointment as an inspector is in force.
