62 Making false statements concerning adulteration of goods to cause public alarm or economic loss
(1)
A person must not make a statement that the person believes to be false —
(a)
with the intention of inducing the person to whom the statement is made or others to believe that an agricultural product or animal feed has been adulterated; and
(b)
with the intention of thereby causing, or being reckless as to whether or not the statement would cause —
(i)
public alarm or anxiety; or
(ii)
economic loss.
Penalty: a fine of $100 000 and imprisonment for 12 months.
(2)
For the purposes of this section, making a statement includes conveying information by any means.
