91 Use of force and assistance
In this section —
security officer means a person who holds a security officer’s licence under the Security and Related Activities (Control) Act 1996.
An inspector may use assistance and force that is reasonably necessary in the circumstances when carrying out a function under this Act.
However, if the use of reasonable force is likely to cause significant damage to property, the inspector is not entitled to use force without the authority of the Director General in the particular case.
An inspector may request a police officer, a security officer, or other person, to assist the inspector in carrying out functions under this Act.
While a police officer, security officer or other person is assisting an inspector at the request of the inspector and in accordance with this Act, the police officer, security officer or other person has the same functions as an inspector, and the same liability and protection as an inspector in relation to carrying out the functions.
