Self‑incriminating information
93 Self‑incriminating information
A person is not excused from giving any information to an inspector in response to a direction or requirement of the inspector on the ground that the information might tend to incriminate the person or render the person liable to a penalty.
However, if the person gives the information after objecting on the ground referred to in subsection (1), neither the information given by the person, nor the fact that it was given by the person, is admissible in evidence in any civil or criminal proceedings against the person except in proceedings for perjury or for an offence under this Act arising out of the person’s giving false or misleading information.
If an objection is made and the information is recorded, in writing or otherwise, the record must set out the fact of the objection having been made.
