Third‑party campaigners register
175SS Third‑party campaigners register
The Electoral Commissioner must keep a list of persons who are registered as third‑party campaigners (the third‑party campaigners register).
The third‑party campaigners register —
must state for each registered third‑party campaigner —
the name and address of the registered third‑party campaigner; and
a contact telephone number and email address of the registered third‑party campaigner; and
the name of the responsible person for the third‑party campaigner; and
the election for which the registered third‑party campaigner is registered; and
any other details prescribed by the regulations;
and
may be kept in the manner and form the Electoral Commissioner considers appropriate.
The Electoral Commissioner must ensure the third‑party campaigners register is published on the Commission website.
However, if a registered third‑party campaigner is an individual, the Electoral Commissioner must ensure that —
the registered third‑party campaigner’s contact telephone number and email address are not published without the consent of the registered third‑party campaigner; and
if subsection (5) applies — the address of the registered third‑party campaigner is not published; and
if subsection (5) does not apply — the published address of the registered third‑party campaigner does not include the street name and number; and
other personal information of the registered third‑party campaigner is not published if the Electoral Commissioner considers it is not appropriate to publish the information because publishing it would place the personal safety of the person to whom the information relates, or the members of the family of that person, at risk.
This subsection applies if a person has informed the Electoral Commissioner when applying under section 175ST(1) or (2) that the registered third‑party campaigner is a silent elector, or enrolled on a roll in the Commonwealth or another State or a Territory with equivalent status as a silent elector.
