The case confirms that offences committed within a short time frame on the same day, even arising from the same general circumstances, are not required to be treated as part of one criminal enterprise for sentencing purposes. Where multiple offences involve different victims, separate acts of violence with separate intentions, and different types of conduct and consequences, the sentencing judge is not only entitled but required to treat each as a separate offence and to structure sentences with adequate accumulation. The closeness in time and proximity of offences will often not be determinative where the offences involve separate victims and considerable violence.
