A total effective sentence of 12 years' imprisonment (9 years plus 3 years cumulative) was upheld for attempted possession of approximately 5 kg of methylamphetamine (53-69% purity) with intent to supply, and possession of 207.6 g of methylamphetamine (22% purity) with intent to sell, where the offender played a courier/storage role in a significant drug enterprise and was also carrying on his own drug dealing business. Late guilty pleas entered four days before trial, in the context of a strong prosecution case, had limited mitigatory value.
