A motorist who accelerates past a vehicle that has been stationary at a green light for a significant period, where the stationary vehicle obscures the motorist's view of a pedestrian crossing, may be found to have breached the duty of care by failing to slow and check the obscured portion of the intersection. A 60% contributory negligence finding against a pedestrian who crossed against a red light without looking is within the range reasonably open to a trial judge.
