A sentence of 11 years imprisonment with parole eligibility after four years is within the proper exercise of the sentencing discretion for commercial possession of 757.3 grams of pure methylamphetamine (75.8% purity), 28.45 kilograms of cannabis, and 284.2 grams of pure cocaine, where the offender was not addicted but possessed the drugs for commercial profit and was in breach of a probation order. Trafficking sentences involving the mandatory 80 per cent rule under s 161A of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 (Qld) should be read with that rule in mind when used as comparables for non-trafficking possession sentences.
