121A Use of information from certified extracts or certified lists
In this section:
approved purpose means—
a purpose connected with an election; or
monitoring the accuracy of information on the roll.
protected information, in relation to a person, means information that the person knows, or has reasonable grounds for believing, was obtained from either of the following, given to the person or someone else under section 121 (1):
a copy of a certified extract of electors;
a copy of a certified list of electors.
A person must not, without reasonable excuse, use protected information for—
a commercial purpose; or
any other purpose, other than an approved purpose.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units, imprisonment for 6 months or both.
A person must not, without reasonable excuse, directly or indirectly divulge or communicate protected information to someone else for a purpose other than an approved purpose.
