162 Verifying information

(1)

If a person is required under this Act to give information to the authority, the authority may require the person to give a statement verifying the truth of the information.

Note It is an offence to make a false or misleading statement, give false or misleading information or produce a false or misleading document (see Criminal Code, pt 3.4).

(2)

If the authority requires a person to give a statement verifying information given to the authority, the person must not be taken to have given the information as required unless the person has given a statement verifying the information.
