180 Authorisation conditions for supply of pharmacist only medicines—Act, s 44 (1) (b) and (2) (b)

(1)

This section does not apply to the supply of a pharmacist only medicine—

(a)

at an institution; or

(b)

on a supply authority.

Note 1 Supply does not include administer (see Act, s 24).

Note 2 Supply authority includes a written prescription or requisition or a purchase order or standing order (see Act, s 23).

(2)

An authorisation under section 110 or section 490 to supply a pharmacist only medicine is subject to the following conditions:

(a)

the supplier personally hands the medicine to a recipient attending in person;

(b)

the supplier gives the recipient adequate instructions, either orally or in writing, for the medicine’s use at the time of supply.

(3)

In this section:

supplier means the following:

(a)

a person who is authorised under section 110 to supply a pharmacist only medicine;

(b)

an endorsed health practitioner who is authorised under section 490 to supply a pharmacist only medicine.
