360 Authorisation for self-administration etc of medicines—Act, s 37 (2) (b) and (3) (b)

(1)

This section applies in relation to a medicine obtained by a person from someone who is authorised to supply the medicine to the person.

(2)

The following dealings by the person with the medicine are authorised:

(a)

if the person is a prescriber and the medicine is a restricted medicine—self-administration of a medicine prescribed or supplied by another prescriber who is not—

(i)

a trainee dentist, intern doctor or endorsed health practitioner; or

(ii)

related to or employed by the person;

(b)

if the person is a prescriber and the medicine is not a restricted medicine—self-administration of the medicine;

(c)

if the person is not a prescriber and the medicine is supplied for the person’s own use—self-administration of the medicine;

(d)

if the person is the custodian of an animal and the medicine is supplied for the animal’s use—administering the medicine to the animal.
