147 Arrangement of WPI assessment
This section applies if an injured person is referred to an authorised IME provider for a WPI assessment under—
section 138 (Insurer believes injuries stable and permanent impairment); or
section 139 (Insurer believes injuries stable but no permanent impairment); or
section 140 (Insurer believes injuries not stabilised—up to 4 years 6 months after motor accident); or
section 141 (WPI assessment 4 years 6 months after motor accident); or
section 142 (WPI assessment—injured person’s injuries stabilised).
The IME provider must arrange for 1 or more independent medical examiners to carry out a WPI assessment of the injured person.
The MAI guidelines may make provision in relation to the procedure for arranging a WPI assessment of an injured person, including—
selecting an IME provider; and
the time within which the assessment must be arranged; and
arrangements for payment of the assessment.
