4 Registration conditions—Act, s 24 (1) (b)

(1)

It is a condition of a professional engineer’s registration that the engineer not undertake work in the building and construction industry unless—

(a)

the engineer gives the registrar a report from an assessment entity that assesses the engineer’s qualifications, experience and competencies to undertake work in the building and construction industry; and

(b)

the registrar is satisfied that the engineer has the required qualifications, experiences and competencies to undertake work in the building and construction industry.

Note A professional engineer may apply to the registrar for a variation of the engineer’s registration (see Act, s 28).

(2)

In this section:

building work—

(a)

has the same meaning as in the Building Act 2004, section 6; but

(b)

does not include the disposal of waste materials generated by an alteration or demolition mentioned in that Act, section 6 (1) (a) or (b).

work, in the building and construction industry, means a professional engineering service for an area of engineering that relates to building work.
