24 Membership of the Radiation Health Committee
The Radiation Health Committee consists of the following members:
a representative of each State and Territory, each of whom must be a radiation control officer;
the CEO;
a representative of the Nuclear Safety Committee;
a person to represent the interests of the general public;
up to 2 other members.
Each member, other than the CEO, is to be appointed by the CEO by written instrument.
Before appointing a member, the CEO must consult the Council in relation to the appointment.
Before appointing a member, the CEO must consult such consumer groups and such environmental groups as the CEO considers appropriate.
The CEO must not appoint a person as a member unless the CEO is satisfied that the person has expertise relevant to, or knowledge of, radiation protection or radiation health.
The CEO must appoint a member to be the Chair of the Committee.
Each member, including the Chair, holds office on a part‑time basis.
