What is a reporting unit?
242 What is a reporting unit?
The requirements of this Part apply in relation to reporting units. A reporting unit may be the whole of an organisation or a part of an organisation.
Organisations not divided into branches
Where an organisation is not divided into branches, the reporting unit is the whole of the organisation.
Organisations divided into branches
Where an organisation is divided into branches, each branch will be a reporting unit unless a certificate issued by the General Manager stating that the organisation is, for the purpose of compliance with this Part, divided into reporting units on an alternative basis (see section 245) is in force.
The alternative reporting units are:
the whole of the organisation; or
a combination of 2 or more branches of the organisation.
Each branch of an organisation must be in one, and only one, reporting unit.
For the purposes of this Part, so much of an organisation that is divided into branches as would not, apart from this subsection, be included in any branch, is taken to be a branch of the organisation.
