87J Use of force to exercise powers
Force to be used only in limited circumstances
(1)
An officer must not use force in the exercise of the officer’s powers under a provision of section 84 unless it is necessary to do so:
(a)
to ensure the safety of an officer; or
(b)
to overcome obstruction of an officer in the exercise of that officer’s powers.
Force used must be reasonable
(2)
The force used must not be more than is reasonably required for the relevant purpose described in paragraph (1)(a) or (b).
