89 Identity cards
The CEO must cause an identity card to be issued to an officer appointed under section 83 and may cause such a card to be issued to any other officer.
An identity card must:
contain a recent photograph of the officer to whom it is issued; and
be in the approved form.
A person who stops being an officer must, as soon as practicable, return his or her identity card to the CEO.
A person who contravenes subsection (3) commits an offence punishable upon conviction by a fine not exceeding 2 penalty units.
Subsection (4) does not apply if the person has a reasonable excuse.
The defendant bears an evidential burden in relation to the matter in subsection (5). See subsection 13.3(3) of the Criminal Code.
An offence under subsection (4) is an offence of strict liability.
