21 Meaning of eligible midwife
For the purposes of this Act, a person is an eligible midwife if the person:
is a midwife; and
meets the requirements specified in the regulations for the purposes of this paragraph.
However, if there are no regulations in force for the purposes of paragraph (1)(b), a person cannot be an eligible midwife for the purposes of this Act.
Without limiting the requirements that may be specified in regulations made for the purposes of paragraph (1)(b), those requirements may include one or more of the following:
a requirement to hold particular qualifications in midwifery;
a requirement to have particular experience in midwifery;
a requirement to be credentialled by a particular body.
