11.33 Taking effect and duration of animal protection direction

(1)

An animal protection direction takes effect on the date it is served on the person to whom it is given.

(2)

An animal protection direction has effect for the period specified in the order—

(a)

in the case of a direction given by the Minister—being a period not exceeding 2 years, or

(b)

in the case of a direction given by any other authorised officer—being a period not exceeding 28 days.

(3)

An animal protection direction ceases to have effect if the direction is revoked by an authorised officer by notice served on the person to whom it was given. A direction given by the Minister may only be revoked by the Minister.

(4)

A further animal protection direction may be given after the expiry or revocation of an earlier direction.
